Thomas Taylor
1758–1835
The English Platonist: a self-taught Londoner who translated the whole of Plato and Aristotle together with the Neoplatonists, Orphic hymns, and mysteries, and did more than anyone to carry the Platonic tradition into the modern English-speaking world.
