Proclusparticipationhenadsmetaphysics

The ‘unparticipated’ monad at the head of each order, giving itself without being possessed.

Unparticipated, participated, participating

Proclus sets at the head of every order an unparticipated term — a monad that remains whole and undivided, bestowing itself without being possessed by any one sharer. Below it stand the participated terms, each belonging to its participant, and then the things that participate. The unparticipated One, Being, and Soul thus secure unity above the many that depend on them.
