Λύσις
The Lysis is Plato’s tender early inquiry into friendship (philia): what it is, and why we are drawn to one another.
Socrates presses the question of whether friendship rests on likeness, on need, or on some “first friend” loved for its own sake — anticipating the ascent of love later traced in the philosophy of Eros.
