The Megarians

Μεγαρικοί

logicEleaticSocratic

The Socratic school famed for logic and paradox, heirs to Eleatic unity.

The Megarian school, founded by Euclid of Megara, a follower of Socrates, fused his ethics with the Eleatic doctrine of the One, identifying the Good with Being.

Its members became masters of logic and paradox — the Liar and the Sorites among them — and their work on argument and modality fed directly into Stoic logic.
