Concept
μονή · monē
Proclus analyzes every causation into three moments: monē, the cause abiding undiminished in itself; proodos, its going-forth into its effect; and epistrophē, the effect’s return upon its source. Monē grounds the other two — the One gives without leaving itself, the source pours out while remaining full. Procession and return are possible only because the cause first abides.
