The gods’ seat — a real snow-peak idealized into a windless heaven.

Certain · Thessaly-Macedon border, 2917m

Greece’s highest mountain, its summit cloud-wrapped above the Thessalian plain — and, in the poets, the shining court where the gods feast on nectar while looking down on Troy. Homer idealizes it past geography: no wind shakes it, no rain wets it, cloudless brightness spreads about it. When philosophy relocated the divine from the peak to the intelligible, the name went too: “Olympian” Zeus became, for the Platonists, the demiurgic intellect.
