Mythic Figure
Νέστωρ
Too old to fight in the front line, indispensable everywhere else, Nestor has outlived two generations of men and reminisces freely across all of them — the poet’s affectionate portrait of garrulous, genuine wisdom. In the Odyssey he hosts Telemachus at Pylos with sacrifices and stories; the excavated “Palace of Nestor” at Ano Englianos, tablets and bathtub included, gave his kingdom an archaeology.
