The Phaeacians’ blessed island — last stop of the wanderings, first audience of their telling.

Traditional · identified with Corfu

Where Nausicaa finds the shipwrecked stranger, Alcinous feasts him, and Odysseus at last says “I am Odysseus, son of Laertes” and tells Books IX–XII himself. The Phaeacians’ magic ships ferry him home asleep — and are turned to stone for it. Tradition since Thucydides’ day identified Scheria with Corcyra (Corfu), a claim the Corcyraeans themselves were already making in the fifth century.
