Aristotle’s covered walk — home of the Peripatetics.

Certain · excavated 1996, central Athens

A gymnasium sacred to Apollo Lyceus east of the city, where Socrates liked to talk — the Euthyphro finds him headed there — and where Aristotle, returning to Athens in 335 BCE, rented buildings and taught while walking the peripatos that named his school. Its library became the model for Alexandria’s. The site, found in 1996 during museum excavations, can be visited today.
