The scarab god of the dawn and of coming-into-being — the sun reborn each morning.

Khepri is the scarab-formed god of the rising sun and of coming-into-being — his name from the verb kheper, 'to become'. Watching the dung-beetle roll its ball and seem to bring forth new life from it, the Egyptians made the scarab an emblem of the self-renewing sun reborn each dawn and of creation arising out of itself.

As the god of becoming — the morning sun, where Ra is the noon and Atum the evening — Khepri embodied the Egyptian faith in perpetual renewal: the daily victory of new being over the night, life forever generating itself anew.
