Mut

Mut, whose name means 'Mother', is the great mother-goddess of Thebes — consort of Amun and, with him and their son Khonsu, one of the Theban triad. Crowned with the double crown of Egypt and shown as a vulture or a regal woman, she was a queenly, maternal deity, mistress of a great temple precinct beside Karnak.

As divine mother and consort of the hidden supreme god, Mut held a place in Theban theology like that of a queen of heaven — the maternal principle standing beside the transcendent Amun.
