Goddess of moisture and dew, first daughter of the creator and mother of earth and sky.

Tefnut is the goddess of moisture, dew, and rain — first daughter of the creator Atum and sister-wife of Shu, the air. Together this first divine pair, air and moisture, are the parents of earth (Geb) and sky (Nut), the next generation of the Ennead.

Often a lioness in form, she was sometimes counted, like other fierce goddesses, among the forms of the burning Eye of Ra. As the primordial moisture paired with Shu's air, she completes the elemental first couple from which the structured cosmos descends.
